It was the omen bet in Brownlow week when Three Votes (nicknamed Gazza) blitzed the field at his 2nd race start at Belmont yesterday.  The Fastnet Rock gelding had put the writing on the wall with an 8.5 length win in a 400m trial last week and had been gelded since his first start earlier in the year where his focus was more on the fillies than the finish line.

Gazza exploded from the start and quickly put about 6 lengths on a high quality 3 year old field.  Even though this was a midweek meeting, a number of the field are destined for feature races during the summer carnival. Gazza had the field off the bit from the start and at the home turn he kicked further in front only to be eased down over the concluding stages to win by 2.5 lengths, with the 3rd horse a further 4 lengths away!!

This gelding will now move on to bigger and better things with trainer Chris saying in a post-race interview that the listed Belgravia Stakes will be his next target.
