Straight to the big League
Jul 12, 2018
It was first up in WA and first home for League of Nations at Belmont yesterday when the Medaglia D'Oro gelding led all the way over 1000m. Well ridden by stable jockey Peter Knuckey, the gelding was brave as he fought off all challengers to break his maiden status in excellent time 58.8secs.
The stable has been patient with the gelding after he was picked out from an online sale and purchased earlier in the year. He enjoyed a good break down south and has come back a happier horse. The stable could have nominated the gelding for an easier country maiden, however, his trackwork has been first class and there was a good degree of confidence that he could measure up first-up.
League of Nations will only improve off the run and looks capable of being very competitive in city class over the coming months.
