Call Nine One One (Sav) has stamped himself as a stayer of the future with a brilliant all the way win over 2200m at Northam today. At his second run this time in over a staying trip Sav “ran them off their legs” to record his 2nd win in an excellent time.
Sav had won earlier in the year over 2000m, but has had a few minor setbacks. It has taken a while to get him back to a suitable distance and today he was ridden a treat by Brad Parnham. Jumping from a wide barrier, Brad took Sav across the front and bowled along at a solid speed. Coming round the bend, the race looked set up for the backmarkers, but Sav had the audacity to sprint away again and held on to win for his group of loyal owners.
Sav is a Savabeel gelding from the NZ mare Bella Renza and is showing all the traits of his stallion line with dour strength that enables him to keep going at a solid pace over a staying trip. We certainly look forward to seeing him step out again in coming weeks.
