It took Vandemonian quite a while to break through for his first win in WA, however, he has shown it wasn’t a “flash in the pan” with a back to back victory yesterday at Northam over 1100m. Beautifully ridden by stable jockey Peter Knuckey, Vanders jumped from the inside barrier into a good spot just behind the leaders. When the gap opened up around the turn he powered through and kicked away to a strong 1/2 length win. The race time of 1:03:09 was very quick, with Vanders coming home his last 600m in sub 34 secs.
As per his previous start, Vanders has shown a real change in attitude since his last campaign. Both of his victories have demonstrated a genuine strength and will to win. It is great to see the Starcraft gelding is now showing the ability that the stable knew he had when they first purchased him from NSW. And more importantly he is getting the results for his loyal band of owners!
